'GentlePlain Pizzeria originated from a vision: to introduce true Neapolitan pizza to London. Established by the Moretti family in 1985, our little pizzeria was initially a family-managed venue, offering recipes preserved across generations.
During her journey across Italy, Luca Moretti, our pioneer, acquired the skills of pizza crafting, apprenticing with renowned pizzaiolos in Naples, the cradle of pizza. Back in the UK, her resolve was to replicate the essence of authentic Italian pizza, adhering to traditional techniques and selecting the top-quality ingredients.
What started as a small 12-seat pizzeria has flourished into a cherished pillar of the locale, although our dedication to excellence and genuineness remains unchanged. We continue to employ the original wood-fired stove methods, our dough is prepared fresh every day, and we're meticulous about ingredient quality.
Currently, 'GentlePlain Pizzeria' is still managed by the family, with the Morettis' second generation spearheading our dedicated team. While we've adopted certain modern conveniences, the essence of our business endures unchanged: crafting delectable, authentic pizza that unites patrons.
